4 fitness accounts to follow during COVID-19 social distancing

If you follow your own gym, studio or personal trainer on social media plus other accounts if you are really into fitspo, you could not have failed to notice that everyone is stepping up to the plate during these days of social distancing and offering virtual and online workouts while the gyms are closed. Every time I glance at my phone someone seems to be doing a Live or advertising their class. It’s so brilliant but can get a little overwhelming if you follow a lot of fitness pros. So as not to overload and confuse myself with accounts and class times, I am temporarily muting all but 4 accounts and these are the ones whose classes and workouts I will be doing. If you are on the other end of the spectrum and not knowing where to start, I invite you to curate your own list.  Here are my 4 to check out and their plans for online classes this week to get you going:

  1. Sophie Grace Holmes (Instagram @sophiegraceholmes)

PT and endurance athlete Sophie is self-isolating at her home in the UK and is offering free online training via Instagram live at 7.30am and 6.30pm on weekdays and 9am on weekends. You can catch up later if needs be as the workouts will be visible for 24 hours. She will kick your ass. Don’t worry she can’t see you, so you can modify these body weight workouts to suit. You won’t regret following Sophie.

2. Laura Murray of Powered by Positivity (Instagram @murraylola)

Laura, who happens to be the PT to yours truly, is offering free workouts via her Facebook group. Her tell-it-like-it-is, no BS, positive attitude and humorous take on life will be a welcome addition to your feed, trust me. Monday’s workout is at 6.45am.

3. The Gym Howth (Instagram @thegymhowth)

Run by owner Erica, this boutique gym has always shared really useful workouts on their feed, but now that they are temporarily closed, are offering online classes which you must book into. I like that idea for accountability reasons!

4. Shanice (Instagram @shanice_pt_)

I started following Shanice after I met her Mam at a party, and she told me all about her work ethic and her business. I have seen them for myself since I have been following her insta stories for months now and can see her hard at work training her clients in her gym.
